Towards the end of Assessment Week, we exercised our creativity as we produced Three-Dimensional representations of our current book 'The Journey'. We used resources from home to link into our Eco-Schools approach by recycling. Thank you to parents for all the contributions from home. Thank you children for using your imagination to create such inventive and powerful pieces of art!

 

 

World Mental Health Day 2019

In a world full of doing doing doing, it's important to take a moment to just breathe...to just be.

Today we completed activities as part of World Mental Heath Day. These included Yoga, 'Bee Breathing', 'Bunny Breathing' and a shared Mindfulness activity to promote a sense of well-being in each other. It felt really good to stop and live in the present in order to focus and recognise ourselves. We will continue to revisit these strategies to support us as we face new challenges on our life journey.

As part of the celebrations for the Rugby World Cup in Japan, and thanks to the hard work of Mr N Higgs, all Key Stage 2 children were fortunate enough to be able to visit the Rugby Hall of Fame. The children participated in a range of activities including: identifying players, reaction times, discussing the core values of rugby, the history of the game and even performing the Haka. We had a fantastic time and some children may even wish to start playing the game in the home of rugby.

Walk this way! We had a wonderful time taking part in the PTA's annual sponsored walk. We especially loved walking around Rugby School, looking at the buildings and finding conkers! Thank-you to the PTA for organising the event, prizes and welcome squash to quench our thirst. We were also very thankful for the gloriously crisp, yet bright, Autumn weather!

Performing Poets! We have been working hard in English to create an emotive poem which reflects the key themes of our Power of Reading book 'The Journey'. After writing, editing and assessing, we performed our poems to each other. We varied tone and volume, changing our voices to reflect the mood in the stanza. Performance gives poetry purpose and we all enjoyed sharing our words!

In Topic, we have been learning about Mayan Dance and Music. The Maya created over 1,000 different dances. They loved dance! They danced the Monkey, the Shadow of the Trees, and more! Costumes were creative, colourful, and as noisy as possible. We went to the hall to have a go...

Year Five had an informative visit from the Fire Service and became 'Junior Fire Safety Champions'! They taught us lots of important information about how to identify and avoid hazards and what to do in case of a fire. The staff were so impressed with how seriously pupils took the training.
