Wednesday 10th February

Today we would like you to think about repeated patterns. Do you remember when we looked at patterns just before Christmas?

The children began by making simple 2 colour patterns using cubes. For example red then blue then red then blue. Some children found this extremely tricky and needed a lot of help by saying the colours out loud.

1. Look at the caterpillar powerpoint together. Talk about the colours being used in the pattern. Talk to your child about 2 colour patterns and have a go at the snake sheet. These are all simple 2 colour repeated patterns.

2. There are some trickier patterns on the powerpoint that contain more than 2 colours or a repeat of the same colour. If you feel your child is confident - have a talk about these. You can create any patterns using items at home such as lego bricks or beads.

3. We also had a go at picture patterns before Christmas - We used Christmas pictures such as santa then reindeer santa then reindeer etc. Have a go at the Chinese New Year Patterns.

Don't forget to send your pictures!
