Today our parachute game is '5 little speckled frogs'. You should remember the song from when we have sung it together in Nursery.
1. Start by talking about frogs. Can you describe them? What colour are they and how do you think they feel? How do they move? Get your child to show you how a frog would move around.
2. Print and cut out the 5 green speckled frogs. You can use the paper frogs or you can stick them to something heavier , like bean bags or small soft toys.
3.Put the frogs in the middle of your parachute ( blanket) and hold it up. Begin singing 5 little speckled frogs while gently wobbling the blanket.
4. When you get to the part of the song that says ' one jumped into the pool , where it was nice and cool' make one of your frogs disappear, you could flip the blanket so that they all fall off and them put 4 back on to sing again, counting down each time until all the frogs have jumped into the pool.
5. When you have played the parachute game use the frogs for basic counting. Show the child an amount of frogs e.g 3 and ask them to count them out loud. Can they match the amount of frogs to the number card. The cards go all the way to 20 for extra counting.
Have fun!
