Friday 15th January

Friday is P.E day in Nursery. Have a look on our 'P.E at home' page for some ideas to stay fit and healthy.

Today we would like you to get creative with our parachute games. The children have been learning some parachute games and have really enjoyed them. If you don't have a parachute at home ( we don't expect you too!) you could use a sheet or a blanket to have a go at these nursery rhymes.

 'Round and round the garden'

For this you will need to find a small teddy ( or cut out the teddy below ) and place him in the middle of your blanket or sheet. This can be done with 2 or more people holding the edges of the blanket.

Say : ' Round and round the garden, like a teddy bear' ( walk clockwise together, keep teddy on the blanket )

'1 step' ( take a jump )

'2 steps' ( take a jump )

'flying through the air' ( fling the blanket so that the teddy flies off ) ( 'Mr Tumble will sing tickly under there' - but our teddy flies through the air in our version )

The child can then collect teddy and give him a hug to make sure he's okay. ( repeat song again )

1,2,3,4,5 Once I caught a fish alive

Hold the blanket together and place the small fish in the middle. ( these can be found as a print out below. You will only need to print 1-5 or 1-10 depending on the numbers your child is able to recognise. )

Sing  '1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive' ( wobble the blanket gently so the fish wobble too )

Sing '6,7,8,9,10 ' ( wobble a little harder )

Sing ' then I let it go again' ( wobble the blanket down to the ground)

Sing 'Why did you let it go ? because it bit my finger so' ( wobble back in the middle )

Sing 'which finger did it bite?' ( wobble low to the ground)

Sing 'this little finger on my right!' ( fling the blanket up in the air when you say 'ow!' so the fish fall off )

Pick up all the fish from the floor and count them as you pick them up. Then look at the numbers on the fish and order them from smallest to largest. Repeat again. You could increase the numbers as you play the game, for example start with only 3 fish then increase by 1 fish every time.

These can be played with as little as 2 people or everyone in the family can join in! Maybe you could think of some other nursery rhymes you like and create your own parachute game! Have fun!  We would love to see photos or video clips of your family playing parachute games so please send them to Mrs James.
