What is the first word or phrase that comes to mind when you look at this image?

What does the image remind you of?

Who do you think the person could be? Why?

Does it remind you of anyone you know in real life or that you have seen in other stories or pictures?

What do you think the character is looking at? Why?

How does the image make you feel?

Now have a think about what the story may be about - can you make any predictions?

Have a look at the end papers of the book - discuss what you can see.

The front of the book

The back of the book.

What do you think the characters are doing, could they be playing a game?

Why is the little girl hiding?

Is this the same girl they think was on the front cover of the book?

Who could it be?

Does it remind them of anyone they have seen in other books or films or TV programmes?

(Some children may now make the connection to Rapunzel, or the film Tangled.)
