Starting School

In the Junior School we allocate places according to these ADMISSIONS CRITERIA:

Children who are baptised Roman Catholics.

Children from St Marie’s Infants School will be allocated places in the Junior School unless their parents have indicated another preference or there is evidence that the parents are not in sympathy with our Mission Statement.

Children with brothers and sisters who are currently at St. Marie’s.

Children from other practising Christian families who have a letter of support from their Minister of Religion.

Children whose parents support our Mission Statement. In this category, the child and parent(s) will be interviewed by a governor to ascertain the appropriateness of a place in this Catholic school.

The Governors reserve the right to restrict admissions in categories 4 and 5 even when the School is under-subscribed, in order to maintain the Catholic nature of the school and to ensure that there will be a place in any Year group for any Baptised Catholic children of families moving into the area.

Our standard admission number is 64.

New pupils are invited to the school in July to look round and meet other children and their new teacher. A meeting for new children and their parents is arranged in June.
