ST MARIE'S JUNIOR SCHOOL WINS BBC LOCAL RADIO CHOIR COMPETITION
To be announced on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Radio at 12noon on Monday 18th December 2006 Three children and Headteacher Michael Floyd will be in the studio.
SCAMPS is the extra-curricular performing arts club of St Marie's Catholic Junior School in Merttens Drive , Rugby . Four weeks ago the choir recorded on CD The Sussex Carol and sent it as their entry in the BBC Local Radio
Schools carol singing competition.
Headteacher Michael Floyd said:
“I am so proud of these children. There are 16 girls and 12 boys in the choir, aged from 7 to 11. They practise every Thursday after school, 3.20pm to 5pm , every week throughout the year. They work so hard that I am delighted that they have achieved this success.”
The SCAMPS choir recently sang in the Clock Towers precinct for the Rugby Town Centre Partnership. The children are now invited to sing at the exciting Carol Concert at Warwick Castle on Saturday 23rd December.
