CHILDREN OF THE DARK

TO COME TO PERFORMANCES
FRIDAY 6.30 PM AND SATURDAY 3PM
A children's opera by Headteacher Michael Floyd and Rugby composer John Howes, based on the book by Alan Gallop. Several terrific new songs including Listen, Come Together and A Bright Tomorrow.
Performed in partnership with Bishop Wulstan School , directed by their drama teacher Wendy Pickering and staged in the Oak Street school hall.
SCAMPS – winners in December of the BBC Local Radio school choir carol competition – now in this challenging work, set in 1838, the year of the coronation of Queen Victoria and the Husker Pit disaster, when 26 children were drowned….a key event, leading to Lord Ashley's work in Parliament and the 1842 Mines Act forbidding all women and girls and young boys from working underground.
