STAFF NEWS

Mrs Chisholm and Mrs Hogg are both expecting babies and will start maternity leave after the half-term break. One of our Arts team, Mrs Palmer, will take over Mrs Hogg's teaching with Year 4 on Wednesdays, and we are pleased to have appointed Mrs Schofield, an experienced and skilled teacher, to maintain the high standards in Year 3.

We are appointing some new mid-day supervisors. The hours are 12.10pm – 1.25pm, Monday to Friday. We also need relief staff, available at short notice. For details contact the secretaries (543636), or for an informal discussion contact Mrs Rothwell, the Senior Mid-day Supervisor.

OTHER NEWS AND SPORT

THANK YOU for donations of £920 to the School Fund, most of which came with Gift Aid forms. If you have not yet sent your £15 donation it will still be gratefully received! The money benefits all of the children in the school, through reward stickers, diaries, curriculum enrichment activities etc.

RESIDENTIAL EDUCATIONAL VISITS to the Lake District – 31 children have booked places for April 2009 and there are only a few vacancies left, for children in Years 4, 5 or 6. The cost is £195. For application forms etc contact the school secretaries, but if you have questions contact Mr Floyd. To see photographs of children on previous visits do look at OUR SCHOOL WEB-SITE: www.st-maries.com

EARLY IN THE MORNING... Children should arrive at school at 8.45am and go straight to their classrooms. Children who arrive before 8.30am should be in Club 7-11; ask the secretaries for details. The staff meet for a morning briefing and prayers at 8.30am and go to the classrooms at 8.45am.

PHOTOGRAPHS – REMINDER – We assume that ALL of our pupils can be included in photographs for the school and other education or approved web-sites, or local newspapers etc. If you do NOT want your child to be photographed please inform the school secretaries, and the child will be excluded from class, team and other group photos, and when we are filming will sit at the back or side of the room to avoid being in pan shots.

WOW! – Walk On Wednesdays... LET YOUR CHILD WALK at least TEN MINUTES of the journey to school. If you don't want to do this every day, WOW means, THINK WEDNESDAYS! Children who walk, cycle, or park and stride, at least once a week receive a badge at the end of the month. If the weather is awful, or you really, really have to drive, use the car park at the end of Alfred Green Close, or drop your child off in Firs Drive – there's a footpath to the school gate. In normal school hours, to reduce congestion and parking which inconveniences local residents, avoid Merttens Drive!
