SUMMER UNIFORM

In the warmer months of May to October we encourage children to be smart and comfortable in summer uniform.

Girls - light-blue and white gingham check dress with white socks
Girls also look neat in a navy-blue pleated skirt with a white blouse and white socks.

Boys - grey or navy-blue short trousers with a white shirt and grey, navy or white socks.  School short trousers are available in many shops, including our uniform stockist, Schoolwear Centre.
Traditional (closed-toe) sandals in navy, black or brown are fine.  Otherwise black school shoes, but no trainers inside the school – please!

There is very little shade outside and when it is very hot we advise children to use what shade there is and to choose activities in which they can be cool. Parents will consider sun hats, sun-lotion etc

HEALTHY SCHOOLS AWARD

Our latest success is to gain the Healthy Schools Award.  This is for:

  • our PE lessons and the amount of extra-curricular sport we offer
  • the high quality of our school meals
  • our weekly encouragement to children to walk or cycle to school
  • our PSHE lessons and general ethos which promote a healthy life-style.

The trophy, with our other awards (including Artsmark Gold, Activemark, EcoSchools Silver and the Papal Blessing), is displayed in the main entrance to the school.

WALK TO SCHOOL

It is better for each child and for everyone else if cars are used less.  We encourage children to walk or cycle to school, and badges are given at the end of each month to those who manage this even once a week.  If you live more than a mile away and there is no bus service, we ask you to find a safe place to stop about half-a-mile from the school, and let your child walk from there.  This is called park and stride.

We have received a complaint from a resident in Alfred Green Close about a parent car blocking his drive.  Our neighbours in Merttens Drive and Alfred Green Close will be much happier if you keep your car away from the school, but at the least, we ask everyone to respect the rights of local residents.

THANK YOU

...for your support for the PTA sponsored activity in May.  The children ran with enthusiasm and commitment!  Please send sponsor money into school as soon as possible.
